It's My Park Day Spring 2026 at Lamplight Community Garden

Karate Kid: Paint the Fence & Move the Mulch! at Lamplight Community Garden

“Paint the fence. Up, down.”
“Wax on… wax off.”

Channel your inner Daniel-san and Mr. Miyagi as we give back to the park! Join us to re-stain the Lamplight Community Garden fence and move freshly delivered mulch from outside the fence to the storage area inside—the kids love this hands-on task! Every brushstroke and every load of mulch helps the garden shine.
Volunteers earn the satisfaction of giving back and an AWESOME It’s My Park Day t-shirt, designed by local artists. No tournaments, no tricks—just community spirit.

Training (and Miyagi-approved) details:
Saturday, March 7th
9:30 AM start
Lamplight Community Garden, Alderbrook Pocket Park
Tools & gloves provided
Bring a water bottle
Wear clothes you don’t mind getting a little messy

🌿 Fig-tastic News from the Lamplight Community Garden! 🌿

A couple of years ago, our beloved fig tree took a hit during that big snowstorm. We've done our best to revive it with love and care, but alas—it’s time to let it go. The good news? A fresh start is on the way! We're planting a brand-new fig tree, the Texas Everbearing (yep, it even sounds delicious 😋). Thanks to upgraded irrigation funded by our garden, this new tree will have everything it needs to thrive.

🍃 Label It to Love It! 🍃

Our garden is bursting with beautiful plants, but without labels, it's a bit of a guessing game! Whether you're a budding beginner or a seasoned soil-slinger, clear signage helps everyone learn and appreciate what’s growing. We recently received a grant to create a butterfly garden (yay pollinators! 🦋), but it didn’t include signs. So, we’re working on adding informative, fun signage throughout the garden to showcase all the amazing plant life—and to keep things organized, too!

🌼 Get Your Hands Dirty on It's My Park Day! 🌼

Join your fellow garden lovers as we give back at Lamplight Community Garden during It's My Park Day! Volunteers get the satisfaction of supporting their local green space and an AWESOME It's My Park Day t-shirt designed by local artists! 🎨👕

We’ll provide tools and gloves—but please bring your own water bottle and wear work-appropriate clothing (it’s going to be fun, but it will get messy!). 🌱💪

📍 Where? Meet us at Alderbrook Park—the garden is right next to the playground.
When? We’ll get started bright and early at 8:30 AM.
