Vegetable Garden

Shared Space

There are several models to community gardens, and we’re proud to say that the majority of our space is truly communal.

This means that we coordinate, plant, tend, and harvest the space together as a group. Instead of being limited to individual beds, members contribute to and benefit from the entire garden. We find this has many benefits including:

  • A wider selection of crops and larger harvests

  • Flexibility and a sharing of the workload

  • More opportunities to socialize, learn, and build community

Organic Food

In alignment with our values and Austin Park Foundation’s program, we focus on organic. Harvests from the garden are shared amongst members as well as donated to local organizations when we have excess.

Some crops you’ll often see growing in the garden:

  • Summer classics like tomatoes, peppers, and eggplant

  • Onions and garlic

  • Seasonal favorites like watermelon, carrots, okra, and pumpkin

  • Perennials like blackberry, fig, grapes, and pomegranate

And lots more!
